Costa Mesa wins series 4-0

Game 1 – The Costa Mesa Condors raced out to a 20-point lead at the end of the 1st period which grew to 30 at half time and cruised to a 115-74 win over the Bucks County Knights in game 1 of the league quarterfinals. Sidney Moncrief had 25 points and Purvis Short added 24 in the winning effort, while Larry Bird led BC with 15. The Condors held the Knights to 32% shooting from the field in the game….

Game 2 – The Costa Mesa Condors raced out to an 18 point lead at the end of the 3rd quarter and coasted to a 99-77 win over the Bucks County Knights to take a 2-0 game lead in their quarterfinal series. Purvis Short led the charge offensively for the Condors with 20 points and was joined by 5 other CMC players with double digits. Bucks County shot 35% from the floor and had 22 turnovers which had them running uphill all game lone.

Game 3 – Akeem Olajuwon scored 10 points in the first quarter, leading the Condors to 36-29 period. They won the remaining 3 frames by 10 or more each and coasted to the 122-79 victory. Olajuwon’s 35 points and 12 boards earned him game MVP. The Condors had 5 more players in double figures. Steve Colter led Bucks Co. with 16 and Larry Legend added 14. 

Game 4 – Bucks County took a 38-32 lead after a period. Costa Mesa turned the table and romped to a 42-23 secon d frame to take a 74-61 advantage into the locker rooms. The home team managed to make it a 95-90 game heading into the 4th. Larry Bird got inside for a dunk with 7:07 remaining to cut it to a 4-point lead for CMC, 109-105. The Condors scored the next 6 points and never looked back, winning 133-123. They advance to the Western Conference Finals and await the winner of the Minnesota-Philadelphia series. Sidney Moncrief was named game MVP with 27 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals and 5 assists. Purvis Short led all scorers with 37. Zeke added 25 points and 10 assists. Larry Legend topped the Knights with 30. Congratulations on a great season to Bob Sarcewicz and for making the playoffs three straight years.
